As an all-hazards and threats agency, FCEM&HS actively assesses a multitude of man-made, natural, or technological hazards that could pose potential public safety impacts.  When a situation reaches or has the potential to impose critical life safety concern to the public, FCEM&HS has a variety of ways to alert and warn the public of the need to take immediate action.

Franklin County Outdoor Warning Siren System

FCEM&HS coordinates the Franklin County Outdoor Warning Siren System.  The system consists of 198 outdoor warning sirens located throughout Franklin County.  The outdoor warning sirens alert residents who are outside with tones or a spoken message which can be transmitted for a natural or potential man-made hazards or threat. To ensure functionality, the siren network is tested every Wednesday at noon.  If there is a threat of severe weather, the test is canceled to avoid confusion.

ALERT Franklin County

ALERT Franklin County, a county-wide mass notification and warning system, is a vital component of the Alerting & Warning Program. The system is used to alert residents about severe weather and important emergency/disaster information on their electronic devices by phone, text and/or email.

FCReady

FCREADY is a keyword text message alert within the ALERT Franklin County Mass Notification System. Keywords provide a quick and easy way for Franklin County residents and visitors to receive emergency management alerts via text message. FCReady does not require citizens to create an account/profile so no personal information is collected. Weather alerts and Buckeye Alerts WILL NOT be sent through the FCReady keyword.

Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS)

FCEM&HS in collaboration with county jurisdictions, is an authorized public alerting authority that can send electronic alerts through the IPAWS system. IPAWS is FEMA's national system that provides authenticated emergency and life-saving information to the public through mobile phones using Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) and through the media via the Emergency Alert System (EAS).
