Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is crucial for organizations because it provides a structured and comprehensive approach to identifying, assessing, managing, and mitigating risks that can impact achieving an organization's goals and objectives. ERM allows organizations to view risk holistically, considering all potential risks across different business areas. This approach helps organizations identify interdependencies between risks and make informed decisions that take into account the broader impact on the organization's goals. This has been dramatically amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused many institutions of higher education to pivot to remote work and address multiple new risks posed to their organizations.
