Franklin County Prepares for Winter Storms with Snow Emergency Briefing and Inaugural Central Ohio Snow Plow Roadeo

    Posted: 11/7/2024

The Central Ohio Chapter of the American Public Works Association, in partnership with the Columbus Department of Public Service, is excited to announce the inaugural Central Ohio Snow Plow Roadeo. The event will provide a platform for public works agencies to network, share best practices, and demonstrate their skills, with staff members taking part in a snow plow challenge course. Awards will be given to the top performers at the end of the competition.

Media video/interview opportunities for the Snow Plow Roadeo will begin at 9:00 a.m.

As part of this event and in anticipation of Ohio's Winter Safety Awareness Week, which runs from November 17-23, 2024, members of the Franklin County Snow Emergency Advisory Group will hold the annual Snow Emergency Briefing for the media and local jurisdiction leaders beginning at 10:00 a.m. During this briefing, the group will review snow emergency levels—Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3—and explain how these levels impact businesses, government, and schools, influencing the decision-making process. Representatives from each agency, including the National Weather Service, will be present and available for questions and media interviews after the event.
