COLUMBUS – Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security (FCEM&HS) is now offering keyword text message alerts with the ALERT Franklin County Mass Notification Program. Keywords provide a quick and easy way for Franklin County residents and visitors to receive emergency information via text message.
When disaster strikes, there are never too many ways to receive emergency information. The FCREADY text alert adds another option to the ALERT Franklin County Mass Notification Program for citizens to receive emergency information. Anyone can receive emergency management alerts through keyword FCREADY. Simply text FCREADY to 888777. The keyword FCREADY does not require citizens to create an account/profile in ALERT Franklin County, therefore, no personal information will be collected.
“We are very excited to add this new tool to our toolbox," said Jeffrey J. Young, Director of Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security. “In today's world, many citizens are reluctant to give out their personal information. The new FCREADY keyword allows residents to be notified of emergency and preparedness information via text on their mobile device without providing their personal information."
Weather alerts and Buckeye Alerts will not be sent via keyword. Franklin County residents wishing to receive weather alerts and Buckeye Alerts, will need to continue to create an account in ALERT Franklin County.
Anyone wishing to receive countywide emergency management information via text message can register now by texting FCREADY to 888777. |
